Holeee Shiiiiat! I Just Finished Harry Potter!
I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! This was probably one of the best fiction series I’ve ever read — the last two might be some of the greatest fiction stories I’ve read on their own. I never thought I’d love Harry Potter this much, but it’s renewed my faith in excellent, uncontrived, no-pretenses, heart-racing, edge-sitting, fingernail-biting, holy-shit-what’s-going-to-happen-next writing. It’s dramatic, parabolic, and climactic, but what’s more is the way it’s written. The story itself is so exciting, but the words J.K. Rowling uses to tell it are equally amazing. She’s so descriptive without getting in the way of the action, and the diction and syntax are so sophisticated, without distracting or condescending. She uses exactly the right words — every time — paces the stories perfectly, and writes developed characters that, by the end, you feel you know personally. Seriously, anyone who still thinks that Harry Potter books are just for children (at one time, myself included) are, to their own detriment, holding themselves as readers to a literary standard Rowling has met and far surpassed. Bloody brilliant!
